    Accreditation

    The Occupational Therapy Assistant program has applied for accreditation, and received "Developing Program Status," by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, P.O. The Occupational Therapy Assistant program consists of four terms. The OTA program is offered three days a week. Theory classes meet 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Clinical Lab sessions meet 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

Level 1 field work sessions run one week each, Monday through Friday, eight hours per day. Level 2 field work sessions run eight weeks each, Monday through Friday, eight hours per day. Please speak to your Admissions Representative regarding the full-time field work schedule requirements.

Term 1

Builds a foundation of prerequisites such as Computer Applications, Effective Professional English, and Anatomy and Physiology.

Terms 2-3

Covers the core courses of the curriculum including Kinesiology, Psychology , Pathology, Pediatrics for OT, Fundamentals of OT Practice and Physical Dysfunction. Students also begin observing practitioners in the field.

Term 4

Students will be placed in two 8-week fieldwork rotations where they will study with Occupational Therapists practicing in the industry. There are additional courses designed to bolster clinical skills, train students in cultural sensitivity, and prepare for the national licensure examination.
